| Hope Estate, located on Broke Rd, is set on 420 acres in the heart of the famed Pokolbin wine area. The former Rothbury Estate is steeped in history including the famous ‘Great Cask Hall’ which has symbolised the best of the Hunter for many years.
Owner Michael Hope’s mission for the winery is to embrace the history of the property and bring back the warmth and magic that Len Evans and Murray Tyrrell created when they originally built the winery in the 60s.
Michael Hope produced the first vintage of Hope Estate wine in 1997 from a vineyard he had purchased 3 years earlier. Since then the family vineyard has expanded to have over 90 hectares under vine.
Last year, we exported wine to Singapore, Germany, Canada, Switzerland, as well as the UK, USA, Japan and New Zealand - not bad for an ex-pharmacist who just wanted to do something he enjoyed and make wine.
The recent purchase of the former Rothbury Estate winery has further added to the depth of product available from the Hope Estate Group.
